Dr. John Hisel

Dr. Hisel was born in Long Beach, California in 1960. He is the youngest of 3 children and has 2 older sisters. His parents moved their family to Idaho from California when he was 4 years of age. He was raised in the Treasure Valley and attended Boise, Meridian and Kuna elementary, junior high and high schools.

Dr. Hisel graduated from Boise High School in 1978 then continued his education at the College of Idaho in Caldwell, Idaho. After graduating with honors from the College of Idaho in 1982, he attended Creighton University’s Boyne School of Dental Science in Omaha, Nebraska. Dr. Hisel graduated from Creighton with honors in 1986 and went on to complete a General Practice Residency at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, graduating in July, 1987. After spending 2 years in the USAF at Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington, he moved back to the Boise area to set up private practice in August of 1989.

Dr. Hisel and his wife Terri have been married 30 years and are High School Sweethearts. They have a son and daughter-in-law, John III and Chandra Hisel, and a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Kent Wallinga. John III is in Full-Time Youth Ministry at Christian Faith Center in Nampa, Idaho. Chandra is a CPA and is employed at an accounting firm in Boise. Melissa and Kent currently live in Nebraska where Kent is receiving his Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy. Melissa is preparing to begin classes in fall, 2009 at University of Nebraska-Lincoln, focusing on a Master’s Degree in Sports Nutrition. For the past 15 years Dr. Hisel and Terri have made their home on 5 acres outside of Kuna. They enjoyed raising their children “in the country” and are blessed to also have shared their beautiful home with many guests; both two and four legged! Being “empty nesters” they currently share their home with 1 Registered Quarter Horse, 2 Labrador Retrievers, 1 Bolognese’ Bichon (a small dog), and two outdoor cats.

Professionally, Dr. Hisel is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Christian Medical and Dental Association, the Idaho State Dental Association and the Southwest District Dental Society. He has served the community as one of the team Dentists for the Idaho Steelheads, is a member of the Idaho Dental Forensics Team and is on staff at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. Currently he is the Dental Director and a Board Member for Genesis World Mission’s Garden City Community Clinic.

Dr. Hisel and Terri are both members of Central Assembly Christian Life Center where he has served in many leadership roles. Together they enjoy spending time recreating in the beautiful Idaho Mountains, watching movies, and spending time with their family. In any spare time, Dr. Hisel loves to golf and trains for half marathons and marathons.

Dr. Hoidal was accepted into the Idaho Dental Education Program, attending his first year of Dental School at Idaho State University. He then moved to Omaha, Nebraska to finish his final three years at Creighton University’s Boyne School of Dental Science. Eric was a member of the Dean’s list at Creighton and is also listed in Who’s Who Among Students in Colleges and Universities. While in Dental School he was privileged to be part of a medical/dental mission’s team, traveling to the Dominican Republic.

After Dental School, Dr. Hoidal was accepted into the Idaho State University Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency Program in Boise. He completed his Residency on June 30, 2008.

Dr. Hoidal is a member of Second Baptist Church in Boise, and regularly volunteers with kids and youth. He was part of the volunteer painting team at the Extreme Home Makeover in Summer, 2007 and enjoys coaching sports. He also spends many hours volunteering for Vacation Bible Schools, Awana’s and as a Youth Leader for the Junior High Youth Group at his church.

Professionally Dr. Hoidal is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Idaho State Dental Association and the Southwest Idaho Dental Society.

In his spare time Dr. Hoidal loves to participate in all types of sports and is learning to golf! He is passionate about Dentistry and is excited to meet our great family of patients.

Heidi

I have a wonderful husband, Mark and two children, Jordan and Tommy. I graduated from Idaho State University’s Hygiene School and have worked for Dr. Hisel since 1991. In my spare time I love to go mountain biking and jogging, I love to travel and spend time with my friends and family.

Luba

I joined Dr. Hisel’s hygiene team in 2006. I am married and mom to 1 son and 1 daughter. Besides Dental Hygiene, I am passionate about many things. I am very proud to be a woman’s and animal rights activist and pride myself in being an environmentalist. I love ethnic cuisine, art and architecture, I love to travel and I’m very interested in medical and dental missions. I also love to sing, camp, hike, bike, knit and read.

I graduated from Idaho State University in May, 2002 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene. I began working for Dr. Hisel in June, 2003. My wonderful husband and I have 1 dog and 1 cat and spend our “spare” time working on our home, gardening, snowboarding, hiking and bicycling.

Ann

I was raised in Caldwell and graduated from High School in Bothell, WA. I attended American Institute of Health Technology, am a Certified Dental Assistant and have worked for Dr. Hisel since 1997. I am a Pastor’s wife, a mother of 2, grandmother of 4 and great-grandmother of 2. In my spare time I love to paint, play the piano, read, cook, hike and have fun!

Julie

I was raised in the Air Force and graduated as a Certified Dental Assistant in 1998. I have worked in a number of offices around the valley and joined Dr. Hisel in the Fall of 2007 at a temporary part-time position. I joined the team permanently full time in January, 2008. I love being an assistant and enjoy helping each patient feel welcome and comfortable in our office.

When I’m not in the office I enjoy skiing and riding motorcycles.

Gina Taylor

I was born in Oklahoma City but raised in Boise.  I graduated from Boise High School in 2003 and from Boise State University's Dental Assisting School in 2008. I interned with Dr. Hisel and immediately fell in love with the atmosphere here.  I was hired in August, 2009 and I am honored to be a part of this team!  I love to meet new people and am exicited to meet all of our great patients. In my spare time I love to enjoy all kinds of sports including skydiving, golfing, snowboarding and supporting the Broncos! I also love camping, scrapbooking, reading, watching movies and spending time with my family and friends.

Carol

I was born in San Diego and moved to Idaho in 1990. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Jeff and we have 4 children and 3 grandchildren! I have worked for Dr. Hisel in an Administrative Position since 1998. Over the years I have gained great knowledge in the “insurance world” and do my best to help our patients in that area.

In my spare time I enjoy camping, sports, crafts, traveling and spending time with my family.

Rolene

I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Kevin since 1979. We have two married children, Kyler (married to Angie) and Krystal (married to Jason). I worked for Idaho Power for 23 years and then began working in the dental field. I love to travel, cook, go camping, waterskiing and being with family and friends.
